Fathers Day 2008!

First off, Happy Father's Day to all dads out there. Today was a great day. This year was Cedric's first Father's Day and set a precedent for all Father's Day's to come. It started by Scout waking Cedric with a card, and breakfast in bed all while sporting a "Daddy's my favorite" shirt. Cedric's big gift was given to him last week, he wears it almost everyday. Scout and I gave him a custom/handmade leather belt with his name on it (kinda cowboy style). After breakfast it was off to church where Cedric was called as the 2nd counselor to the Sunday School Presidency and then received a gigantic snickers bar from the Relief Society. After we got home it was down to business with the pizza building and eating. Pizza is one of Cedric's favorite foods and making them together was so much fun.

Cedric is a wonderful husband and father, Scout and I couldn't ask for more. Here are the pictures from Father's Day 2008. Enjoy!

Dad and daughter.

A better look at the shirt.

The Pizza.

We love you Cedric. (Sarah and Scout, and Scout's butt!) Happy Father's Day.

Sister Irene and Aunt Debbie Come to Town!

Last weekend was one for the books. Irene, Sarah's lovely mom, arrived on Friday evening and it was time for fun- which is to say that we went to Mimi's Cafe and didn't get our food for over an hour and got our meal for free (that's fun). We all piled into Irene's rental car the next day and picked up Aunt Debbie from the airport. After lunch, we went to temple square and the conference center. The weekend also included a trip to Park City and Sundance (I will include pictures even though I wasn't there!). Thanks Irene and Aunt Debbie! We had a great weekend.
P.S. I forgot to mention that Sarah has been volunteering at the local 4H club as a horse-riding teacher. I threw in a picture of that as well.

Garage Sale!

We are moving to BYU campus family housing (motto- "Bring us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses") and needed to get rid of a bunch of things we never use or that wouldn't fit in our new shoe box size dwelling. So yesterday, we woke at the crack of dawn to get started, but apparently that wasn't early enough for some die-hard garage sale hunters who evidently had started their deal-finding at about 3 a.m. and passed by while we were still setting up. From about 8 in the morning it was smooth sale-ing (get it... sale-ing? OK I quit). We sold almost everything and had a fun day while we were at it. Hannah and the twins came for most of the day as well as Micah, Nigel and Andy. Sarah made shredded pork sandwiches and the day was complete. We also finally got to know our neighbors... too bad we're moving in a week.

Below are some pictures of the Mothers Day croquet game we played at Nielsen's Grove. Andy was victorious after some amazing strokes of the mallet. Sarah and Carly didn't care as much about playing well as they did about looking cool. We also threw in a picture of poor Scout who took her first digger, face-first into the dirt. Learning to sit up on her own, she over-did it a bit and fell, leaving her a couple of gnarly battle wounds. Keep your chin up Scout!

Happy Mothers Day!

It's the day to praise the women in our life who are brave enough to become mothers, which is more stressful and dangerous than climbing Mount Everest naked, according to a 2007 survey of Nepalese women who have done both. Sarah is the brave one to whom Scout and I sing praise today. Sarah is a strong, smart, feisty and faithful woman. I thank her for her love, hard work and patience. I also thank her for her obedience to her faith, which is both helpful and inspiring to me. Now, Scout wrote a poem that she would like to share.
"Mommy"
By Samantha Scout Anderson

My mom is so pretty, so lovely and sweet,
she's smart and she's tidy, so clean and so... orderly.
She loves my ol' dad, and she loves me, I'm sure,
with a love that's unspoiled, untainted and... virtuous.
I love her so much, and i just want to say,
that I hope that she has such a nice Mothers Day!

Bob Marley Quote of the Week

As many of you know, and some of you disapprove of, this Anderson family loves Reggae! We have decided to share a little bit of our take on some of one of our favorite artist's lyrics (that was quite the sentence, sorry). We enjoy listening to a diverse array of Reggae artists and styles within the genre. In deciding who our weekly homage should honor we have chosen the very talented, yet not so hygienic Bob Marley. This should not be a surprise to those of you that have seen our secret Bob Marley shrine and to those of you that knew Sarah's rabbit Ziggy (the rabbit was named after Ziggy Marley, one of Bob's many children). Through these weekly posts you, the reader, will gain a general ethos of the Anderson mentality, while gaining insight to some wonderful lyrics.

“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds!”
Bob Marley quote of the week. Some choose to adapt this quote to explain and support their idea of free thinking. Some of these people would be ones to say “I want to be different. I don’t want to be part of society. I’m not going to be a slave to what I was taught while growing up. I am going to break free from the brainwashing of our American society and lifestyles.” We feel, however, this quote has much more to offer than mental anarchy. In truth, this quote can be used as a reminder to continually educate yourself. The only way to “emancipate yourselves from mental slavery” is to award yourselves knowledge of all realms. Your brain is never going to quit accepting truth, light and knowledge. The more you educate yourself the stronger your mind will become. A person with a strong mind will be the one to have a free mind just as a strong man bound in ropes could break free.
This is not to say the only way to have a free mind is by attending a traditional college and only feeding your mind what you learned while there (though that is a very bona fide way of gaining knowledge). That idea in itself is mental slavery of a different note. Travel, prayer, reading, learning new skills and interacting with all types of people are just some of the ways we “can free our minds.” So get out there and do it!

Weekley update.

So a new semester has started! The last one went wonderfully, and this one has started great. The week went well. Nothing major happened. We are getting ready to move and to tell the truth we are actually excited about experiencing BYU family housing. We have to down size in order to live comfortably in the 650 sq. ft. apartments the school provides, but all will be ok. Ikea has saved us. If anyone is interested we are having a garage sale on Saturday. Maybe we will see some of you there.
Here is what went on this week.

Sarah is so devoted to the eternity she will spend with Cedric that she got a tattoo of his name! Just kidding. It looked almost real for one whole day.

We are moving to a new place and have started to pack up our most precious possessions. There are air holes in the box, so she should be good for the duration of the move.

Samantha Scout loves to listen to her Dad play his guitar.

We spent an afternoon at BYU viewing some of the senior's photography finals, specifically the one on Mormon convicts. We felt really good about ourselves afterward.

Just a picture for Uncle Andy.

This is a bracelet I made Samantha Scout. Her Aunt Hannah generously gave me the stuff to do it. Thank you Hannah.

Till next time.

The Semester is Over!

May spring-time bring out the Happy Hobo in all of us.

So, the semester ended pretty well for Cedric, meaning of course that he made it through with all his limbs mostly intact. Anyway, now that school is not in the way, those of you who are devotees to the frog-snot.blogspot blog will be pleased to know that there is a bunch of new stuff on there. Check it out. Also, I think Cedric and Scout are finally going to build that potato gun they've been hankering for. Also, its Barbecue Season! Spring Break! Woo!

Here's a video of Scout doing what she does best- Being Cute. I hope she never grows up.

This Past Week......

Great Grandpa Anderson held Scout

Nigel got caught on camera

Kolby held Scout

Scout stood on her own, while holding on to the couch

Sarah made giant oatmeal cookies, they were delicious

Andy got bored while Jeff acted interested

A mommy and baby rabbit tried to recruit scout to the cheer squad. They made a pyramid and told Scout she was the chubby one and had to be the base. She did not join the squad. She said she would rather stick to skating. (and eating)

Abby Singer and Scout held hands

Sarah and Scouts eyes turned red, probably from one of their late girls night out escapades.

And everyone lived happily ever after.

Fun and Stuff!

It has been two weeks since we got back from our trip to Reno, and it's high time we web-logged about it. As long as we're at it, we'll throw in a couple other pictures, etc. To start, let's take a look at what went down Saturday, our first day in Reno- Below, we have mom, enjoying the rocks on the side of the new house (now officially named "Stone Hill"- they rejected the name I thought of- "Stoner Hill"). The place is almost done! Below mom, is a picture of dad- excited at at the stuff he can do with the land they got. I think he's planning on a sand box, a tennis court and a militia training obstacle course.

Inside the house is turning out to be just as cool as the outside. Below we can see Cedric, Sarah, Scout, Jordan, Ruth and Massey checking out the basement, where all the fun is projected to go down at some future point.

Next up is Saturday night, when things started to get a little wild. The Tiner family came to visit and as can be seen below, Toby has a little of his grandpa Fred in him- he's a real go-getter. What better way to demonstrate this than to kiss a girl you've only just met? That's right- Scout's first kiss (and probably not Toby's). They grow up so fast!

Needless to say, our trip was awesome- Jordan blessed Massey, Andy got a chance to bless his sister's newborn son, we hung out with the famous Mike Carpenter and we got to see Reno, the Classiest Little Biggest City in Reno. But life goes on... We went to conference in Salt Lake,

Sarah got a new job at the Macey's grocery store deli (here she is looking cute in her new uniform and beret),

and last, but certainly not least, Scout learned how to skateboard. Uncle Andy and dad took her to the skate-park this morning to show her the ropes. Let's just say she's a natural.

Sometimes life is just too good to be true.
